Project Hail Mary Review (No Mio): The One Thing This Sci-Fi Story Is Missing

March 24

No Mio Review: Project Hail Mary

Let’s say you’ve been sleeping under a rock…and no, not The Rock, and NO, NOT ROCKY in Project Hail Mary…but a normal rock you would sleep under…the concept of a No Mio Review is simple:
I take a piece of content, be it a movie, a tv show, and album, anything really, and evaluate one critical factor…

Is Solo Mio in it?

In the case of Project Hail Mary…the answer is no. And boy oh boy, does that disappoint!

What Is Project Hail Mary About?
Project Hail Mary follows a lone astronaut tasked with saving humanity from extinction. It’s a story built on science, isolation, and well…humanity.

Which raises an obvious question:
Why would you send one man into space…and not include Solo Mio?

From a technical standpoint, Project Hail Mary delivers:

We’re talkin’ great storytelling!
We’re talkin’ emotional depth!
We’re talkin’ compelling performances!

But ya know what we’re not talkin’? Solo Mio.

No surprise cameo.
No vocal support.
No last-minute save.

Just… no Mio.

Final Verdict

Is Project Hail Mary engaging? Yes.
Is it well written? Absolutely.
Are the performances amazing? You betcha!

But at the end of the day:
It needs more Mio!

Hoppers Movie Review – Amazing, But The Film is Missing One Thing

March 9

In my latest No Mio Movie Review, I take a quick look at Hoppers, a movie that is honestly, so so fun!

The premise is weird in a good way (I think this is how most people describe me), the animation looks great, and the cast is unreal. On paper, it feels like the kind of movie that should absolutely work.

But while watching the trailer, I noticed something very important.

Something that keeps happening in movies lately.

They’re missing Solo Mio’s Matt Taylor.

Now, I’m not saying every movie needs Matt Taylor to succeed. But I’m also not not saying that. Imagine the possibilities. Imagine the energy. Imagine the slightly chaotic charisma he could bring to the whole thing.

Would it fix everything?
Maybe…I mean, maybe he can fix everything in life TBH.
Would it improve things?
Almost certainly.

That’s the premise of my No Mio Movie Review series: quick, completely fair, and highly scientific evaluations of movies that are missing the one ingredient Hollywood keeps overlooking.

Watch the full short review below.

What Is a No Mio Movie Review?
A No Mio Review is a quick comedy movie review where I examine films that seem good, interesting, or even great — but are missing one key thing:

Solo Mio’s Matt Taylor.

Because sometimes a movie doesn’t need a rewrite, a bigger budget, or a new director.

Sometimes it just needs a little more Mio.

No Mio Movie Reviews – Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die (Spoiler: IT RULES…with one exception)

March 6

I watched the movie “Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die” and I’m here to tell you…it sorta rules! Don’t worry, no actual spoilers…but Gore Verbinski is in his bag, Sam Rockwell gives a performance for the ages, Haley Lu Richardson does some pretty intense nose bleed acting, and the rest of the cast is unreal. Not to mention, an amazing script from Matthew Robinson.

Check out a more detailed review below, because, to be honest…it was missing one thing.

Let me know what you think, did it rule? Yeah, duh.
